WELLNESS in the Wild

Coming Soon

Willmore Wilderness Wellness—also known as Wellness in the Wild—is an exciting new initiative currently in the planning stages. Rooted in the heart of Alberta’s Eastern Slopes, our mission is to assist individuals, families, and groups in achieving optimal physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

We develop and coordinate community-based health and wellness programs that build self-esteem, encourage healthy living, and promote holistic growth. Our approach blends immersive, nature-based experiences with the rich history and culture of Willmore Wilderness Park, creating opportunities for healing, learning, and connection.

When launched, Wellness in the Wild will offer:

  • Equine-assisted activities that build confidence, trust, and self-awareness

  • Guided wilderness experiences for physical, emotional, and spiritual renewal

  • Talking circles and storytelling to foster understanding and connection

  • Cultural and historical knowledge-sharing honouring the people and places of Alberta’s Eastern Slopes

Our programs will be led by a diverse and experienced team, including:

  • A ACTA Registered counsellor (internationally qualified psychologist)

  • A Registered Nurse (College of Registered Nurses of Alberta) who has studied extensively with Virginia Satir, the “Mother of Family Therapy”

  • A Qualified Addictions Counsellor

  • A Qualified Yoga Teacher

  • A Certified Equine Assisted Activities Instructor

  • Rocky Mountain Cree Elders who share cultural teachings and wisdom

  • Traditional knowledge holders with knowledge of Plants of the Rockies

To support and expand these programs, we also create educational and cultural media—including books, documentary films, interactive websites, and social media campaigns—designed to spark conversation, guide teaching, and begin the healing process.

Whether you are seeking personal growth, stronger community ties, or simply the peace of nature’s embrace, Wellness in the Wild will offer a unique opportunity to reconnect—with yourself, with others, and with the land.

“Programs are delivered as charitable public-benefit services in health promotion and education.” If fees apply, subsidies will be available; please contact the Willmore Wilderness Foundation for options.

Stay tuned for updates as we bring this vision to life.
